Thirst Project is a nonprofit organization that works with the support of young people to END the global water crisis by building freshwater wells in developing communities that need safe, clean drinking water. Why Water? Health and Sanitation: Waterborne diseases kill more children every single year than HIV, Malaria, and all world violence combined.

What is Thirst Project?

The Thirst Project is a non-profit organization started in 2007 by several college students who learned about the international water crisis and wanted to make a difference. Its aim is to educate students about the global water crisis and bring safe drinking water to communities around the world where it is not immediately available. The Thirst Project collects money and builds wells all across the continent of Africa where villages do not have immediate drinking water. Since its start, it has done 2,652 projects, raised over $9.7 million, and served over 367,323 people in 13 countries.

How can my Key Club help?

Donate:

Just $25 can provide one person safe drinking water for life. And $12,500 can fund a well and change a whole village forever. Your Key Club can do various fundraisers to raise money! There are various ways of donating including credit card, gift card, check, stock, and international donations.  Learn more at their website.

School Tour:

Schedule a Thirst Project speaker to come talk to your school/event. A crucial part of ending the water crisis is to educate students about the problem.

Thirsty 30:

It begins on January 28th, but this is not set in stone. Your Key Club can pick any day to start, as long as it lasts for 30 days. Here’s how it works: Each Key Club obtains as many envelopes as there are members. Each envelope gets a number. For example, if your Key Club has 50 members, you would get 50 envelopes and number them 1 all the way to 50. Those envelopes are then distributed among Key Club members, and each member is challenged to raise the amount represented on his/her envelope within 30 days! The impact is insane, and it is a great way to raise a lot of money in a relatively short period of time. If your club is planning to participate, you can pledge to participate at this link
