District Board Committees
The District Board forms committees in order to carry out the business of the District.
Full Year Committees
The following committees are chaired by Executive Board officers and composed of Lieutenant Governors.
Executive Committee
Chair: Governor Ryan Ma
Members: Secretary Adrianna Ousback, Treasurer Audrey Elwood, Editor Sammi Purcell
Purpose and Goals: Meeting monthly, the Executive Committee consists of the District Executive Board as well as the District Administrator, Assistant Administrator and Financial Counselor. They meet to discuss the early stages of District initiatives, work to plan board meetings and events, and review each month of Key Club work.
Education Committee
Chair: Secretary Adrianna Ousback
Members: Lieutenant Governors Cheyenne Trask, Mia Kay, Libby McBride, Makeda Girma Ketema, and Danny Bieszczad
Purpose and Goals: The Education committee's main roles are organizing, planning, and executing the annual Club Officer Training Conference, and overseeing, scheduling and promoting workshops at District Convention. It works to produce media and graphics to promote both of the events, and looks for new and fun ways to get students engaged. This year, the committee is especially focused on ensuring that the District reaches its goal of having 66 clubs in attendance at COTC.
Governor's Project Committee
Chair: Governor Ryan Ma
Members: Lieutenant Governors Sora Dighe, Jovana Philippe, and Finn Jordan
Purpose and Goals: The Governor’s Project Committee works to promote and support Governor Ryan Ma’s Governor’s project, Fighting Food Insecurity. Heading into DECON, they will work on finding fundraisers and initiatives for convention attendees to partake in. They also created a new form, linked on the NEBD website, to track service projects.
Growth Committee
Chair: Treasurer Audrey Elwood
Members: Lieutenant Governors Ahliya Roy (Charter Champion), Belinda Rivard, Ella Stefani, Ella Huang, and Hailey Valencia
Purpose and Goals: The growth committee works to create resources to assist schools with chartering new Key Clubs, or reactivating former Key Clubs. They also assist Key Clubs with membership growth, working toward the District goal of 7,000 members and 5 new clubs in the 2026-2027 year.
Projects and Partners Committee
Chair: Editor Sammi Purcell
Members: Lieutenant Governors Alicen Kane (UNICEF Champion), Cameron Hickey, Lunova Dean, Isla Mckeand (Water Warrior), and Stella Castro
Purpose and Goals: The Partners and Programs committee aims to promote UNICEF, the Thirst Project, the Nature’s Conservancy, Erika’s Lighthouse, and Schoolhouse, Key Club International Partners. They also work to promote District projects: Camp Sunshine and KFNE. Lastly, they promote the Global Leadership Certificate and Youth Opportunities Fund, two of Key Club International’s programs. They receive direct updates from the International committees that certain members serve on.
Half Year (DECON) Committees
The following committees are formed in the fall each year to plan different aspects of the District Educational Conference (DECON).
Member Recognition
Chair: Lieutenant Governor Makeda Girma Ketema
Members: Lieutenant Governors Hailey Valencia, Jovana Philippe, and Isla Mckeand
Purpose and Goals: The Member Recognition committee centers around the DECON Contests. Members work to update contest materials and guidelines, judging submissions when needed. The committee members will promote all of the District contests leading up to deadlines, utilizing social media.
Sergeant-at-Arms Committee
Chairs: Lieutenant Governors Belinda Rivard and Ella Stefani
Members: Lieutenant Governors Maria Stone and Lunova Dean
Purpose and Goals: The Sergeant-at-Arms Committee upholds decorum during DECON, including enforcing curfew, monitoring doors for large sessions, and overseeing credentialing of delegates for the House of Delegates.
Service Project Comnmittee
Chair: Lieutenant Governor Cheyenne Trask
Members: Lieutenant Governors Alicen Kane, Mia Kay, Cameron Hickey, and Sora Dighe
Purpose and Goals: The DECON Service Project committee is responsible for planning and executing the main service project at the District Convention. For 2027 in Portland, the DECON service project will be related to the Governors Project, Fighting Food Insecurity, so the committee will have to work out details relating to the organization of this large-scale project.
Theme and Spirit Committee
Chair: Lieutenant Governor Danny Bieszczad
Members: Lieutenant Governors Ahliya Roy, Libby McBride, Ella Huang, Solomon Burke, and Stella Castro
Purpose and Goals: This committee focuses on putting together a list of decorations for the DECON stage, dance, and other main rooms/locations. They are also responsible for putting together multiple fun evening activities, such as a non-service project activity on Friday and a non-dance activity on Saturday.
