Contest Rules

District Talent Contest Rules

  1. Any Key Club wishing to into the Talent Contest must submit the entry form either online or in person at DCON by Friday, April 4, 2025 at 10:00 p.m.

  2. Auditions will be held on Saturday at a time and location listed in the Conference program.  The top acts will be invited to perform during the Recognition Session on Saturday evening.  Contestants who will not be at DECON in person may audition over Zoom.

  3. The winning act of the District Talent Contest may audition at Key Club International Convention.  If so, the winning act is asked to sign-up at the contest table set-up at Key Club International Convention.

  4. Criteria and judging for the District Talent Contest will be consistent with the Key Club International Talent Contest Official Rules below.

All contestants must submit an Entry Form using the submission form below or in person at DECON by April 5, 2024 at 10:00 p.m. to be assigned an audition slot.



INTERNATIONAL TALENT CONTEST OFFICIAL RULES

  1. All entries shall be in good taste and appropriate to the standards set by the Objects of Key Club International.

  2. All participants in an act must be members of a Key Club in good standing with Key Club International. In a group act, all members must be from the same district.

  3. The time limit on each performance of the act at a general session of the convention should not exceed six minutes.

  4. Any materials (props, instruments, costumes, etc.) that are needed for each performance must be supplied by the contestants who participate in that performance.

  5. District talent acts must be certified by the district administrator and in attendance at the international convention to compete in the international Talent Contest. Talent acts from non-districted areas should email Key Club International, keyclubinfo@kiwanis.org, the entry form and a video of their act by the first Friday in May. All acts must be approved by the Key Club International president and in attendance at the international convention to compete in the International Talent Contest.

  6. To be eligible for the international contest, the entry form must be received in the district report by the first Friday in May.

  7. Each Key Club may participate in no more than one act entered in the International Talent Contest.

  8. All acts entered in the International Talent Contest will be required to demonstrate their ability and entertainment appeal at preliminary auditions (time and place to be announced in the convention program). At this time, the most entertaining six to eight acts will be selected to appear in the International Talent Show as finalists.

  9. The decisions of the judges are final, and no changes, alterations or regrading’s will take place after the results have been certified by the judges of this contest.

  10. Any Key Club entertainment on the convention program prior to the International Talent Show cannot participate as a judged act.

  11. Judging for this contest will be based on the following criteria and point values:

    1. Content 20 points

    2. Performance and entertainment value 30 points

    3. Poise and confidence 10 points

    4. Audience response 20 points

Submission Options

All contestants must submit an Entry Form no later than Friday, April 4, 2025 at 10:00 p.m. in person at DECON or using this online submission form to be assigned an audition time. Only contestants who submit an Entry Form will be given audition times.
