Contest Description

Contest Rules

  1. The New England and Bermuda District Educational Conference Talent Contest will be conducted according to the following rules set by Key Club International Board of Trustees.

  2. District talent acts certified by the District Administrator and in attendance at International Convention shall be eligible to compete in the KCI Talent Contest.  Talent acts from non- districted areas approved by the International President and in attendance at International Convention shall be eligible to compete in the KCI Talent Contest.

  3. Each Key Club may participate in no more than one act entered in the District/International Talent Contest.

  4. A Talent Contest entry may take any form as long as it is entertaining and in good taste.

  5. All participants in an act must be official members of a Key Club in good standing with Key Club International. In the case of a group act, all members must be from the same District.

  6. All acts entered in the talent contest will be required to demonstrate their ability and entertainment appeal at preliminary auditions (time and place to be announced in the conference program). At this time, the most entertaining six acts will be selected to appear in the District Talent Show as finalists.

  7. Selection of acts by the judges at the preliminary auditions, in so far as they are consistent with high quality performance, will be final.

  8. District awards will be given to the top three acts in the District Talent Contest.

  9. The time limit on each performance of the acts should not exceed six minutes.

  10. Any materials (props, instruments, costumes, etc.) that are needed for each performance must be supplied by the contestants who participate in that performance.

  11. Any Key Club talent act performing as entertainment on the conference program prior to the District/International Talent Show contest cannot participate as a judged act.

  12. Judging for this contest will be based on the following criteria and point values:

    1. 20 points - Content

    2. 30 points - Performance and entertainment value

    3. 10 points - Poise and confidence

    4. 20 points - Audience response 

  13. The decisions of the judges are final and no changes, alterations or regradings will take place after the results have been certified by the judges of this contest. 


District Talent Contest Rules

  1. Any Key Club wishing to into the Talent Contest must submit the entry form either online or in person at DCON by Friday, April 5, 2024 at 10:00 p.m.

  2. Auditions will be held on Saturday at a time and location listed in the Conference program.  The top acts will be invited to perform during the Recognition Session on Saturday evening.  Contestants who will not be at DECON in person may audition over Zoom.

  3. The winning act of the District Talent Contest may audition at Key Club International Convention.  If so, the winning act is asked to sign-up at the contest table set-up at Key Club International Convention.

All contestants must submit an Entry Form using the submission form below or in person at DECON by April 5, 2024 at 10:00 p.m. to be assigned an audition slot.

Submission Options

All contestants must submit an Entry Form no later than Friday, April 5, 2024 at 10:00 p.m. in person at DECON or using this online submission form to be assigned an audition time. Only contestants who submit an Entry Form will be given audition times.
