Signature Project Contest

Contest Description

Each year, Key Club will recognize clubs for recurring projects that make a positive impact on communities. The top project in each club size category will be recognized at the annual Key Club International Convention. Additionally, the New England and Bermuda District will recognize the top three Signature Projects each year at the District Educational Conference.

Signature projects are service projects that a club conducts at least annually — and for which it has become known in its community and on campus. A project must occur annually for the past three to five years. (Clubs that have recently started a new project that will recur, or that have conducted a one-time project, should consider entering our “Single Service” or “Major Emphasis” contests.)

Key Clubs interested in submitting their projects into the contest must use the online form from Key Club International. The entry form must be submitted electronically by March 15, 2024, to be considered in the District contest.

Contest Rules

Key Club International Signature Project Contest rules, instructions and criteria:

  1. Any Key Club in “good standing” may enter. “Good standing” is a club with 11+ dues-paid members and an updated roster.

  2. The submitted project must occur at least annually.

  3. Clubs must submit the entry form by the district’s due date of March 15, 2024 to be considered in the District's contest. Late entries will not be accepted. All contest entries must be submitted through the online submission form.

  4. Only club projects may be submitted for consideration. District and Divisional projects are not eligible.

  5. Clubs are only eligible to win every three years.

  6. Multiple clubs from a single district may enter.

  7. All contest entries will be confirmed as received via a confirmation email to the submitter, with copies sent to the club’s Key Club district governor and district administrator.

  8. The District will award a first, second, and third place award. The District contest will not consider the membership tiers (bronze, silver, gold, and platinum).

All entries will also be considered for the Key Club International Signature Project Contest:

  1. The international contest closes by the first Friday in May. Submissions after that will not be accepted.

  2. A panel consisting of members of the Kiwanis International Board of Trustees and the Key Club International Board of Trustees will review all submissions that meet contest criteria and will select the platinum, gold, silver and bronze winners.

  3. The decision of the panel is final.

  4. The platinum, gold, silver and bronze winners will be awarded at the Key Club International convention.

Entries will be evaluated as follows:

  • 25 points: the project's impact

  • 20 points: the project strengthens the Key Club's membership

  • 20 points: the project strengthens the Key Club's partnership(s)

  • 10 points: the project enhances the Key Club's image or brand in your community

  • 25 points: the project occurs at least annually

Important Note: If you were unable to do your project in 2020 or 2021 due to COVID-19, you are still eligible. This must still be a yearly project and would have had to been done in 2019 and years prior to the pandemic.
