The New England and Bermuda District is saddened by the loss of our longtime District Administrator Mr. George Whitney. Mr. Whitney served as District Administrator for 41 years, starting in 1978-1979. Before that, he served as Assistant District Administrator starting in 1974. He was a teacher and mentor to over 1,000 District Board members and made a positive impact on countless thousands of high school students who were in Key Club during that time. Mr. Whitney is remembered for his dedication to the Key Club organization, his humility, his sense of humor, and his strict but understanding demeanor.

The 1988-1989 District Board named the Leader of Leaders award after Mr. Whitney to recognize an adult in the District each year who has brought out the best in the youth of the New England and Bermuda District by bestowing upon them trust, responsibility, and challenge of leadership. Mr. Whitney lived up to these ideals as he mentored and guided countless Key Club leaders through our District.  Mr. Whitney's obituary can be found here.
