Talent Contest Guidelines
A.The New England and Bermuda District Educational Conference Talent Contest will be conducted according to the following rules set by Key Club International Board of Trustees. B.The first-place winner of the District Talent Contest will be certified to compete in the International Talent Contest. If the first-place winner cannot attend International Convention, the second place winner will be certified to compete. C.Each Key Club may participate in no more than one act entered in the District/International Talent Contest. D.A Talent Contest entry may take any form as long as it is entertaining and in good taste. E.All participants in an act must be official members of a Key Club in good standing with Key Club International. In the case of a group act, all members must be from the same Key Club. F.All acts entered in the talent contest will be required to demonstrate their ability and entertainment appeal at preliminary auditions (time and place to be announced in the conference program). At this time, the most entertaining six to eight acts will be selected to appear in the District Talent Show as finalists. G.Selection of acts by the judges at the preliminary auditions, in so far as they are consistent with high quality performance, will be final. H.District awards will be given to the top three acts in the District Talent Contest. I.The time limit on each performance of the acts should not exceed six minutes. J.Any materials (props, instruments, costumes, etc.) that are needed for each performance must be supplied by the contestants who participate in that performance. K.Any Key Club talent act performing as entertainment on the conference program prior to the District/International Talent Show contest cannot participate as a judged act.
L. Judging for this contest will be based on the following criteria and point values:
- Performance and entertainment value: 30 Points
- Poise and confidence: 10 Points
- Audience response: 20 Points
M. The decisions of the judges are final and no changes, alterations or regradings will take place after the results have been certified by the judges of this contest.
District Talent Contest Rules
A.Any Key Club wishing to enter the Talent Contest must submit an entry form according to the directions listed on the District’s Talent Contest Entry Form. B.The contestant(s) must attend the District Educational Conference. Auditions will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at a location listed in the Conference program. The top six acts will be invited to perform during the Recognition Session on Saturday evening. C.The winning act of the District Talent Contest may audition at Key Club International Convention. If so, the winning act is asked to sign-up at the contest table set-up at Key Club International Convention. D.The District will provide the first-place winner with a $100 discount off the District Tour to attend International Convention so that the first-place winner may compete in the Key Club International Talent Contest.
District Talent Contest Awards
Talent Contest Awards are given out as follows to the Key Clubs with the highest scores: 1st Place (Plaque and Ribbon), 2nd Place (Ribbon), and 3rd Place (Ribbon).
If the first place winner attends the Key Club International Convention in July, they will receive a $100 discount on the District Tour Package. In the event that the first place winner cannot attend the International Convention, this discount may go to the second place winner, and then to the third place winner.
